About Carlie Cornell

Hello, I’m Carlie.

I’m a fine art painter based in Arlington, TX, and I make work that chases the feeling of being outside — the way late afternoon light filters through a grove of cherry blossoms, the silver glow of moonlight on magnolia petals, the quiet memory of birch trees standing in a Minnesota winter.

Nature has always been my greatest teacher. I’m endlessly drawn to the way light transforms a landscape, how atmosphere can make a familiar place feel otherworldly, and how a single moment in the natural world can hold an entire emotion. My paintings are my attempt to capture those fleeting, luminous moments and invite you to step inside them.

My Creative Process

My work is mixed media, layered and intuitive. I paint primarily with acrylic and oil, building depth through washes, mark-making, and texture. I often incorporate metallic foil to catch the light in unexpected ways — a shimmer that mimics moonlight on water or the glint of sun through leaves. Some pieces also include watercolor, which brings a softness and translucency that I love for capturing atmosphere.

Each painting begins with a feeling or a memory — a walk through a grove, a late-night sky, a childhood landscape — and evolves through experimentation. I let the materials lead as much as I do.

The Prints

Every print in my shop is made from an original painting — a piece I created in my studio, by hand, with intention. When you bring one of these prints home, you’re bringing a piece of that story with you.
