Cherry Blossom Grove, A collection of three original paintings

This collection began as something else entirely.

The first painting was intended to be the background for a mixed-media piece. My plan was to add mandala hearts and additional decorative elements, but before I could continue, both my husband and one of my closest friends asked me not to. They liked the tree exactly as it was.

At first I resisted. The painting felt unfinished to me. But the more time I spent with it, the more I began to see what they were seeing. The tree was carrying enough on its own.

I added more blossoms, refined the composition, and eventually created two companion paintings. Together, they became a small grove rather than a single tree.

Each piece is built around the contrast between delicate pink blossoms and a luminous metallic ground. The reflective surface shifts throughout the day, changing with the surrounding light and creating subtle variations in atmosphere. From a distance, the paintings feel airy and open; up close, individual brushstrokes and layered marks remain visible throughout the branches, blossoms, and landscape.

What draws me to flowering trees is not only their beauty, but their briefness. They arrive, transform a landscape for a short time, and disappear again. These paintings are less about documenting a specific place than about holding onto that moment of abundance before it passes.

Displayed together, the three paintings create a continuous sense of space and light while allowing each tree its own character. The collection works especially well in bedrooms, living areas, entryways, or other spaces where a sense of brightness, calm, and natural beauty is welcome.
