Orchids in Gold Light

White orchids drift across a field of gold, their petals catching and reflecting light in different ways as the viewer moves past. A small butterfly lingers nearby, easy to miss at first glance.

This painting began with an interest in contrast: delicate forms against a luminous ground, stillness against movement, observation against ornament. The foil is not simply decorative. It changes with the light, creating subtle shifts that make the painting feel slightly different from one moment to the next.

Like much of my work, the piece does not arrive with a fixed story. It offers a quiet space to look a little longer and see what emerges.
